These are just some of the programs offered by drug manufacturers or other companies that provide discounts on prescription drugs. Certain eligibility requirements may apply. As of January 1, 2006, all Medicare-approved discount card programs ended.
1020Rx Discount Prescription, Dental and Medical Plan
This program offers negotiated group discounts. This is not an insurance plan. You can save money on prescriptions, diabetic supplies, medical supplies, eyewear and contact lenses, vitamins, hearing aids and more. You may use participating pharmacies or mail-order service. Plan costs vary. Participants must show their card at the time of purchase to receive the discount. AARP Pharmacy Services
AARP offers two drug discount card programs to its members. First, members who enroll in an AARP Health Insurance Plan that does not offer prescription drug coverage, are offered a member savings discount card at no cost. This plan is called Health Care Options. For information, call 1-800-523-5800. Second, members can enroll in MembeRx Choice, a discount program, at a cost of $19.95 annually. Participants can save up to 47% on prescription drugs. To enroll in MembeRx Choice, call 1-877-231-6015. AARP also offers three Medicare Part D Prescription Insurance Plans, two with no annual deductible. For more information, call 1-866-255-2835. GSPOPS (Garden State Pharmacy Owners Provider Services Corporation)
No age or income limitations. Recipients will receive 10% to 50% savings on regular retail prescription drug prices. No annual fee. Proof of county or municipal residency is required. Call GSPOPS at 1-800-633-0037 or visit www.gspops.com.
Merck Prescription Drug Plan
No income or age requirements, but must have no prescription drug coverage. Program is free. Enroll online or call 1-800-506-3725 for more information.
Sun Patient Card
This card is a prescription discount benefit created by a physician in Illinois who found that many of his patients were unable to afford prescription medications, regardless of whether or not they had insurance. As a result, he created a national discount program for patients of all ages and income levels. There is no enrollment form. You can print a card from the internet; allow 3 days for activation. All prescription drugs at most pharmacies are covered. Savings will vary by drug and pharmacy. Diabetes supplies, including test strips, insulin syringes and needles are also covered. Together Rx Access
